August 02: Castaway Cay

It was on this day in 1999, that passengers aboard the Disney Magic became the first guests to ever set foot on Castaway Cay - Disney's private island in the Bahamas. Located 225 nautical miles from Disney's home port of Cape Canaveral, Florida, the 3.1 mile long island was formerly known as Gorda Cay.
